Where is the serial number on a Cube bike?

On Cube bikes without a motor, the frame number is on the bottom bracket; on e-bikes (the Hybrid models), it is on the seat tube near the motor. That is what Cube says on its help page. Depending on the frame, it can also be on a silver sticker under the top tube or the down tube, or on the left chainstay. Write it down and photograph it before you need it.

Step by step

  1. No motor: look under the bottom bracket

On classic Cube bikes without a motor, Cube says the frame number is on the bottom bracket. Lay the bike down or turn it over and look underneath.

  2. E-bike: look at the seat tube by the motor

On Cube Hybrid bikes, the motor covers the bottom bracket, and Cube places the number on the seat tube near the motor. Look at the lower part of that tube, close to the motor.

  3. Look for a silver sticker

Depending on the type of frame, Cube also puts the number on a silver sticker under the top tube or the down tube, or on the left chainstay (the tube from the bottom bracket to the rear wheel, on the side away from the chain).

  4. Photograph it and register it

Take a close-up photo where the number can be read and another showing where it is on the frame, and keep them with the receipt. Register your Cube for free on destolen (up to 5 bikes) with the number and the photos: if it is stolen, you will have everything to hand for the police report.

  5. Before buying a used one, check it

If you are buying a Cube second-hand, ask to see the number on the frame (not just in a photo) and type it into the destolen checker: it is free and you do not need an account. If it is reported stolen, do not buy it and tell the police. If it is not, that only means it does not appear in the sources checked.

What Cube says

On its help page, Cube explains that on its classic bikes the frame number is on the bottom bracket and on its Hybrid models it is on the seat tube near the motor. It adds that, depending on the frame, it can also be on a silver sticker on the underside of the top tube or the down tube, or on the left chainstay.

Cube calls it the frame number («Rahmennummer» in German): it is the same thing the police and stolen bike registers ask for as the serial number.

If it is an e-bike, also note the motor and battery

On a Cube Hybrid, the motor and the battery have their own serial numbers, different from the frame number. Write them down too: if a stolen bike is taken apart, they are what identifies those parts.

If the number is worn off or you cannot find it

If it is your bike, look for it on the receipt or ask the Cube shop where you bought it, with your proof of purchase.

If you are buying a bike and the number has been filed off, scratched, painted over or the label has been torn off, do not buy it: it is a red flag. You can tell the police and give them the link to the listing.
