Frequently asked questions
What is the DGT number and where do I find it?
Since 2026, e-scooters are entered in the Vehicle Register of the DGT (Spain’s traffic authority), which gives them an identification number: it is on the registration certificate and on the identification label. It is the e-scooter’s main identifier, like the serial number on a bike. If you don’t have it yet, register your e-scooter with its serial number (under the deck or on the stem) and add the DGT number later.
Does destolen replace the DGT registration or the insurance?
No. The owner takes care of the DGT registration and the compulsory insurance under Law 5/2025 separately. destolen is a free private register that adds the certificate, the checker and the theft report.
How do I know whether a second-hand e-scooter is stolen?
Type its DGT number or serial number in the destolen e-scooter checker. If it is reported stolen, do not buy it and tell the police. If it is not on record, still ask for the DGT certificate in the seller’s name.
Do you look for my stolen e-scooter in second-hand listings?
